Mowing the Brow

As I was looking for photos of me in make up from years back, I gasped and wondered why I ever ever thought it was good enough for me to consider going outside, let alone, good enough for a shoot. I honestly never thought I'd be posting these photos again, but for the good of this blog.... I shall.

Now, we never really realize how important it is to groom our eyebrows. We don't pay enough attention to them actually, but do you really want to be caught in a photo with these kinds of eyebrows??

I mean, check mine out!

Back in 2010, I didn't know anything about eyebrow grooming, as you can see in the photo below. It was actually the most difficult lesson in the curriculum for me. I just couldn't understand it. During the shoot, I thought, "psh. eyebrows lang naman eh. Mas maganda dapat yung mata." But what I didn't get then, was that the eyebrows are just as important. To be honest, I just got the hang of doing my eyebrows in the past year.  They frame your eyes and help with the over-all look.  So please, get your eyebrows done. Nothing drastic, just clean them up a bit.

I get my eyebrows threaded at either Lay Bare or Let's Face It, since they're both near my place. In my experience, the best place to get them threaded would be at Lay Bare in their Ybardolaza branch. They really know what they're doing there. It's also cheaper than Let's Face It, where threading for women costs PHP150, in Lay Bare, it's only PHP100.

You can choose to get your eyebrows done only every six months since you can groom them yourselves using an eyebrow razor. It's very easy to do, once you get them threaded, once a week, just shave off the hair that you can see growing below your eyebrow.
You can find eyebrow razors in any mall. I know they sell them in The Face Shop, although, I'm not quite sure about the price. You can also find them in Watson's.

Another thing I never heard of was PRIMER. Oh how I love primer now. If you look closely at that photo, you can see the uneven color of black. That's because of two things: 1) I didn't put on primer. and 2) I remember being frustrated with that look because I kept making mistakes and trying to clean it up (ergo, the uneven color).

My advice is to use primer when putting on eyeshadow. It really helps the color stick and even amplifies the color of the shadow. Also, it helps it blend throughout the day instead of creasing. I go to school everyday and have to deal with the Philippine heat, primer helps my make up stay in place for the whole day. A good but cheap primer would be e.l.f. Eyelid Primer. It's only around PHP250.00 and can be found in most malls.

See the difference your eyebrows can make?
